Why We Pledge
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. -Jesus, as recorded in Matthew 6:19-21
What powerful, spirit-filled words these are! They cause us to think. They cause us to review our investments. We're reminded first to invest in the things that matter most. It is so easy to find ourselves investing in things that really don't make a lot of difference to us, while also neglecting those things which are eternal. Jesus' words also remind us that we begin to truly love those people and things into which we invest our time and money.
