Ash Wednesday / Time In The Desert

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of an important spiritual journey! You may already be aware that Ash Wednesday is the first day of the Christian season of Lent. Lent begins 40 days before Easter, not counting the Sundays. It is a time for Christians to reflect on their faithfulness to Christ and his way.

Ash Wednesday will also serve as the beginning of our new teaching series, Sacred Spaces. In this busy and distracting world, Lent is a time to reflect and search deeply for the sacred things of the Christian faith. When we read about the life of Jesus, it is obvious that He was intentional about creating space for sacred moments. What if we thought of the spaces we occupy as sacred and used them to regroup our hearts towards the holy life? During this series, we will look at some of the sacred spaces Jesus used and we will make space within our own personal, family and church structures for sacred moments.

Jesus had sacred time in the dessert where he did some real soul searching. Have you been to the dessert place lately? Lent is a time for us to do some soul searching in our our own Christian life.
